MICHEAL SAYLOR IS SUED
Micheal Saylor is a super well-known person in the crypto community. He’s a crypto billionaire; his (now former) company, MicroStrategy, also bought a lot of BTC, even during this harsh crypto winter. Nonetheless, Micheal has always believed in Bitcoin and its value.
However, the newest information is not that joyful…
As you can see in this Twitter post made by D.C. Attorney Karl Racine, Saylor and MicroStrategy, which he created more than a decade ago, are being accused of tax fraud.
Apparently, MicroStrategy helped Micheal to “evade taxes he legally owes on hundreds of millions of dollars he’s earned while living in DC.”
This is what you can find in the lawsuit file:
Also that:
Moreover, in the Twitter thread, Racine added that this lawsuit is the first “brought under DC’s recently amended False Claims Act encouraging whistleblowers to report residents who evade our tax laws by misrepresenting their residence”.
Karl Racine also claims that they’re “putting residents and employers on notice that if you enjoy all the benefits of living in our great city while refusing to pay our fair share in taxes, we will hold you accountable”.
So, this case is going to be interesting. At the time of the writing, there are no official Micheal Saylor comments on this situation yet. But I’ll be there to update you.
KYLE ROCHE RUNS AWAY?
The messed-up reputation changes everything, I guess.
You can read more about it here, and here. In short, in a few leaked videos, Kyle Roche, a high-profile crypto attorney, talks about helping Ava Labs to avoid regulations and keeping competitors away. And, of course, not for free.
Crypto lawyer also says that these videos were a “deliberate scheme to intoxicate” and “exploit” him.
Now, he kinda runs away. He was the council for several lawsuits against big crypto names; I’m talking Binance, Tether, Bitfinex, and others here. Roche has withdrawn himself from all of these class action suits today.
Is this move shows his guilt? Why would he do this otherwise? It also could be a matter of principles and pride. Anyway, some strange things are happening.
HERMES IS ENTERING NEW HORIZONS
Another luxurious brand to open the wide crypto world.
In the previous newsletters, I wrote about LVMH - the world’s leading luxury products group founded by Bernard Arnault. Already a few luxurious brands under the LVHM name succeeded in the crypto world (for example, Tiffany&Co collaboration with CyberPunks NFTs); LVMH has some shares in Hermes as well.
So, the french luxury design house appears to become another brand with the future in the web3.
What plans does the brand have?
To create “downloadable computer software for trading, viewing, storing, and/or managing virtual goods, digital collectibles, cryptocurrencies and NFTs”;
To launch “downloadable computer game software featuring virtual goods, <...>collectibles, and non-fungible tokens for use in online virtual words”;
To “retail store services featuring virtual goods”;
To conduct “trade shows, fashion shows and exhibitions in online virtual, augmented or mixed reality environments”;
To provide “virtual currency for use in connection with virtual goods”;
“Fundraising and financial sponsorship relating to virtual goods” is also included in the list;
And it goes on and on…
So, plans are ambitious, but it is definitely not the first time a luxury brand has entered this virtual space. So, great news for all the fans of Hermes!
THURSDAY’S FACTS:
Bitcoin closed the last summer month at $19,900. So, below the 20k mark and with negative leverage of -13,88%. Numbers are sad… and it’s not the best way to start autumn;
On the other hand - we should never lose hope; maybe this autumn is about to be bullish.
There are 900k addresses that hold 1 whole Bitcoin! Congrats to those 900,000 people!
Yesterday I wrote about the mysterious whale wallet that holds 50% of Axie Infinity SLP tokens (22 billion tokens); today, this whale wallet is not a secret anymore - an address belongs to Binance, and Binance is a long-time partner with Axie Infinity;
You’ve probably already seen this image:
Well, this helped Ethereum to rise by 6%. So, only good stuff both for Vitalik and for ETH.
