NFT.NYC - THE CONFERENCE OF CRINGE?
Biggest NFTs conference is over, but not the impressions about it.
Coo! It’s me, Crypto Owl. I hope your weekend went great, but now a new week is starting. With that being said, let’s fly into the Monday crypto news.

NFT.NYC CONFERENCE: WAS IT GOOD OR WAS IT…CRINGE?
NFT.NYC is an event, which was hosted (for a second time) very recently - on June 20 - 23, and attracted a number of sworn crypto and NFT fans.
The event was full of workshops, speeches, and so on, in order to talk about NFTs and their importance from as many angles as possible. Just so, you know, people would broaden their horizons about this so-hot-right-now part of the crypto world.
As NFT.NYC conference is over now, these are the main takeaways I gathered:
Too many speakers with too little time to speak.
That’s what many participants have said. And apparently, that’s not the only problem. It seemed like some speakers didn't even understand the point of their presentations and just tried to reflect on what happened last year. Sad, but oh well, rather than using the opportunity to talk about the recent NFTs highlights, hiccups or anything else in between, they chose the same old news... A bit disappointing.
Basically, according to people’s opinion, it felt like some speakers came just to make quick and easy money without really putting much work or giving any value to the listeners.
Not everyone knows why they’re into NFTs.
Various reviews showed that there were two types of participants in this conference.
People who actually and genuinely believe in NFTs. They were super excited, as this event was probably one of the most memorable social gatherings to show off and meet other like-minded fans of NFTs.
The rest of the people (or part of them)… well… who didn’t really understand the point of NFTs. At least it felt like it.
And then all of this makes us wonder: are NFTs just one growing bubble? Do these people just want to belong to a community? To look cool, because NFTs are trendy? Possibly. I mean, even celebrities kinda seem proud to represent themselves as apes in social media. And if you think better, why would they do this? Especially when there is another part of society who finds this even insulting. What do you think?
(A lot of) cringiness was there.
Well, check this out:
Or, look at this:
Cringe? You tell me.
And if you feel confused right now - you’re not alone.
These “costumes” were inspired by “Goblin Town” - quite a new collection of NFTs. If you find this ridiculous, well, art is the thing where you don’t have to understand everything. Maybe there was some message behind it? Maybe we just don’t see it?
Or simply, it’s just ridiculous.
To end this “cringiness” part, look at this…party (if you can call it so):
Cool Cats NFT collection “Cooltopia” appeared as the best-looking collection in the whole NFT.NYC Conference.
And they even had a game where you could participate and earn merch. For true NFTs believers it must have been a very fun activity!
NFT collector Cozomo de’ Medici exhibited his greatest pieces from his multi-million-dollar collection on a billboard in Times Square.
And among various people’s works of art, one of those pictures contained a BAYC derivative made by supermodel Heidi Klum. Cool, I guess?
Owl’s opinion: this conference brought mixed feelings. On one hand, such events are a great opportunity to find like-minded people, to get some knowledge, exchange ideas, and get inspiration. On the other hand - what if everything is just for the show..?
Well, probably the most important thing is to get some value out of this conference. And if participants did (whether they came for the show or for the knowledge) - I guess it was worth it then.
LITTLE SNACK
